It’s hard to imagine a world without visual and physical displays of information; many consider it something that has always been there, something that has just always existed. But this couldn’t be furthest from the truth, there was a time in which information was only transferred and translated through word of mouth. Like the game of telephone, many of us grew up playing, verbal transfer of information proved problematic as people struggled to accurately transfer information to each other. So how does this relate to technical communication?

While technical communication took a while to have the reputation it does now, many people still have false ideas about this career to this day. For instance, let’s say for example an average person was to be asked the following question: What do you think of when you hear the words “Technical Communication?”

It is no surprise that Technical Communication offers a broad range of careers that you can choose from in different industries. With the many skill sets of a technical communicator, there are many jobs to choose from! Here are a few careers that you can choose from. This is only a small list but the possibilities are endless! Note that these salaries can range based on work experience and education in the Atlanta Metro Area. Many of the skills that technical communicators have can also be applied to more than one role (e.g., Writing, Graphic design, Communication, Empathy, etc.).
